Widgets (product widgets) – a tool for earning. What are they and how to create them?

Widgets (product widgets) are already an integral part of websites. We encounter them on a daily basis without even realizing it. What exactly are widgets and how do we use them in affiliation?

Widgets (product widgets) – what is it?

In short, it is a graphical medium of information. A widget can be, for example, the weather information we see every day on our smartphone screen, the date or the time. Widgets provide visual information about the status of selected programs or applications on a computer or smartphone. Their graphic form varies, and, what is important, most often we can change it and personalize it according to our own idea.

Product widgets (widgets) in affiliation – what are they for?

The number of affiliate tools is not as wide as a deck of cards. Although we can place an affiliate link or banner in various places, it is often the case that they do not get as much attention as we would like. Widgets (widgets), on the other hand, have very important features:

  • they are visually attractive
  • they can be static or dynamic
  • they can be personalized
  • they are easy to integrate into your site
  • they are responsive
  • are not pushy

Widgets encourage users to click on them because their graphics are much more inviting and unobtrusive than a traditional banner. Widgets (widgets) are an attractive and interesting alternative to banner ads. And most importantly, they can be easily customized with the graphics of our site. Products in widgets have affiliate links attached to them, so every time someone clicks on any product posted in the widget, they will be taken to the advertiser’s store, and the publisher will receive a commission if a sale is made as a result.

Product widgets (widgets) - where to use them most effectively

Product widgets (widgets) – where to use them most effectively?

Widgets are most readily used by bloggers, theme sites and product search engines. Using them, widgets can present from several to even dozens of products, from different advertisers. It is important that the products added to the widgets are consistent with the content of the page on which they are presented. To insert a widget, simply copy the code of the generated widget and place it in the code of the page. We cannot insert widgets on social media profiles (YouTube, Facebook or Instagram), as we do not have the ability to paste the widget code there.

Product widgets (widgets) vs. banner

Widgets have a big advantage over another graphical affiliate tool, namely banners. Banners are prepared by advertisers and their visual layer may not be to every publisher’s liking, e.g. due to incompatible color scheme with the site. In contrast, the widget, from start to finish, is created by the publisher himself, freely generating its appearance. Often sites are overloaded with banner creations presenting the offer of various stores. With the help of widgets, we can reduce them to one place. The following example will best illustrate this:

Kasia runs a fashion blog, placing banners of various affiliate programs offering dresses. Each graphic looks different and they are not consistent with the look of the site. The blogger decides to change the concept and generates a widget with all the prettiest products in her opinion. She adjusts its appearance accordingly, so that it looks good on her site. This allows her to dispense with a large number of banners and condense their content into a single, visually appealing graphic.

Kasi’s example shows how widgets have a big advantage over traditional banners. Thanks to them we will maintain the coherence of our blog or service. This form of presenting the store’s offer will also make users more likely to click on it.
